Supporters Player Of The Year - Kevin McEllin

17 May 2017 by Gary Johansen

Kevin McEllin has been voted the Supporters Player of the Year and last night after the victory in the Macron Cup Final over Barnoldswick Town, Kevin was presented with his Purple Samba by young member Will Jones.

Kevin is an absolute credit to the club, to himself and to his family and his grit and determination shines through in every one of our performances, never mind his superb ability on the ball, range of passing and trademark tackling.

Kevin said of his award “I was so made up to get the award from the fans. They are a pleasure to play for and I love this club so much”

11 seperate players recieved nominations from supporters which is great in itself and shows the true depth in our squad, but ultimately Kevin was a landslide winner.

The Purple Samba award is sponsored by scouse trainee and clobber shop Transalpino who have long supported the club with gifts and prizes, but the award itself was created by member Chris Maguire, head honcho of the South Sefton Purps, so a big thank you to Chris for doing the honours with this award and also the Supporter of the Year Award which will be announced at the club’s End of Season Awards ceremony (details to follow).
